2. Delete the Spotify folder from AppData directory

  1. First, to open a Run dialog, use the Windows Key + R shortcut.
  2. Write the text %appdata% and hit Enter.

  3. Find the Spotify folder in the App Data Directory -> right-click on it -> choose Delete.
  4. A pop-up will appear. Press on Yes to confirm and wait for Spotify to delete.
  5. You’ll have to Restart your computer for the process to be complete.

3. Delete every file related to Spotify

  1. Enter Windows Key + E to open the File Explorer.
  2. Enter CTRL + F to open the Search box. Enter Spotify and press Enter.

  4. A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the action, so press on Yes.
  5. Now Restart your computer to complete the deleting process.
  6. After this, try to install Spotify again and see if the error message will appear.

4. Uninstall any programs that can interfere with Spotify

  1. Open Start Menu -> find Add or remove programs -> click on it after you find it.
  2. Look for iTunes, Comodo, or any other program that you know that it can interfere with Spotify -> right-Click on it -> press Uninstall.

  3. After the programs selected have been uninstalled, restart your computer.
  4. Now you’ll have to install Spotify again to see if the error code 18 will appear again or not.
  5. After this, if the Spotify app is installed with no problem, you can reinstall the other programs that you have just uninstalled.

There are some applications that are known to interfere with Spotify. They also may lead to error code 18. Usually, iTunes and Comodo are the most common programs that interfere with Spotify.
