Last week, Huawei’s Kirin 9000 was scored on the popular AnTuTu benchmarking app where it scored neck-and-neck with the Exynos 1080. It scored notably better (287,000+) in GPU portions of the benchmark, which were ahead of both Qualcomm and Samsung’s Exynos top performers.
Today, well-known leaker @IceUniverse tweeted a rumor that the Kirin 9000 is sporting a 24-core GPU. The leakster notes that the Mali G78 MP24 is clocked at lower frequencies to distribute the load and keep things power efficient.

Although its scores are more impressive than the Snapdragon 865 and the Exynos 1080, the new Kirin chipset’s real competition will be the chipsets that succeed those, namely the Snapdragon 875 and the Exynos 2100, both of which won’t be seen on retail smartphones until 2021.
The NOH-NX9, presumed to be the Mate 40 (non-Pro) will feature a 90Hz refresh rate display, along with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

There’s also rumor of a Mate 40 Pro+ model, which might come with a hexagonal-shape camera array with 5 cameras, along with 65W Super Charging. This model is said to come with 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage along with a model number of NOP-AN00.

As per previous reports, Huawei has a limited number of these Kirin 9000 chipsets due to supply-chain constraints caused by the US’ Huawei ban executed by the Trump Administration. The new chipset is expected to arrive in Huawei’s new Mate 40 series, which the company has already teased leading up to its October 22 announcement date.
