The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) might be the flagship smartphone deal of the year, offering the Galaxy S20 experience at a much cheaper price than other phones in the family. Now, Samsung has launched the phone in India (h/t: SamMobile), and it might just take the fight to OnePlus in the region.
The Galaxy S20 FE packs an Exynos 990 processor rather than the Snapdragon 865 chipset, so we’d expect Snapdragon-powered flagships in the region to offer better gaming performance in particular. Nevertheless, other core specs include 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 25W charging (15W charger in the box).
Samsung’s cheaper flagship also packs a 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, complete with a 32MP selfie camera in a punch-hole cutout. Speaking of cameras, the Galaxy S20 FE delivers a well-rounded rear setup. You’ve got a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP 3x zoom shooter.
Samsung’s phone also delivers Galaxy S20 series staples like an IP68 rating for water/dust resistance, wireless charging, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Dex capabilities. You’re not getting 8K recording or a glass back, but there’s still plenty of premium goodness here nonetheless.
Expect to pay Rs 49,999 (~$681) for the Galaxy S20 FE in India, with pre-orders starting from October 9 via Samsung.com and retail partners. The phone will be available in Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy, Cloud Red, and Cloud White. By comparison, the OnePlus 8 starts at Rs 41,999 (~$572), while the Pro variant retails for Rs 54,999 (~$749), which means the S20 FE fits in between the two devices.
